Our Story — How Samia Craft Started
Samia Craft began in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic — one of the most difficult periods in modern history. What started as a small, purposeful act grew into one of Bangladesh’s trusted tote bag manufacturers.
Our founder, Shakhawat Hossain Mia, is a Textile Engineer who built deep expertise in digital marketing, SEO, and online business between 2011 and 2018. While he understood how businesses grow online, our CEO Samia Akter had something equally powerful: a genuine passion for craft, creativity, and fabric-based work.
During the pandemic, Samia Akter began making handmade fabric masks to protect family members. The response from friends and neighbours was immediate. Orders came in. An idea took hold.
They saw that Bangladesh had a need for products that were affordable, practical, eco-friendly, and beautifully made. From that vision, Samia Craft entered the tote bag industry — and has never looked back.

The Beginning
Founded during COVID-19. Samia Akter started making handmade fabric masks. Online sales began — the response was extraordinary.
Into Tote Bags
Expanded into eco-friendly tote bags and fabric products. Joined Daraz Bangladesh (part of the Alibaba ecosystem) and began online sales at scale.
Top Seller Status
Became a top seller in Daraz’s bag category. Partnerships expanded to include Sara Lifestyle, Rokomari, corporate organisations, government projects, NGOs, universities, and international buyers.

Our Factory & Work Environment
Unlike traditional large-scale garment factories, Samia Craft operates with a craftsmanship-focused, people-first production environment. Our approximately 2,000 sq. ft. facility is designed for quality, not just volume.

The factory includes 2 sewing production rooms, 1 cutting and finishing room, 1 storage room, and 2 office rooms. We believe great products come from a great working environment — which is why our team has some of the highest retention rates in our industry.
Our Team
Approximately 90% of our team members are women, making Samia Craft a proudly women-supported production ecosystem. Many team members have been with us for 2, 3, or 5+ years — a reflection of a workplace built on loyalty, fairness, and mutual respect.
